Excursion to Jinja

Hello again! Mike's last posting was unfortunately true. He stayed home sick on Monday while Chuck, Kristen, cousin David, the twins (cousins) and I went to Jinja to see Bujagali Falls and the source of the Nile. Part of the adventure was the ride there (2 - 3 hours each way due to lots of traffic in Kampala) - we drove past huge bottling plants (Rwenzori bottled water, Coca-cola) tea farms, and tons of Ugandans carrying extremely large and awkward loads on their bikes or "boda-bodas" (motorcycle taxis). Bujagali Falls is part of the Nile River and there were vendors there who offered us boat rides on the Nile or to just jump in themselves (in a water jug or something crazy) for our pleasure so we could watch them. We decided just to keep our money, watch the falls and take lots of pictures.
Then we drove over to the Source of the Nile, where the river flows from Lake Victoria through a narrow passage and up through Uganda, Sudan and Egypt then out to the Mediterranean Sea (I think I got that right). There's a big statue of Gandhi where his ashes were spread upon his death, and again lots of vendors selling necklaces, baskets, and other crafts. After stopping for lunch we were happy to be home and settle into our usual routine of dinner and lots of relaxing. :)
